Allyson grew up in North Georgia and has carried a book, notebook and pen with her since she can remember. Her teachers regularly accused her of “creating literature” in her classes instead of paying attention, and she always read ahead in group reads and had to fumble when she got called on to read aloud.
Luckily, she channeled all that literary energy into writing and editing her high school and college newspapers, along with regularly reporting for her town’s newspaper. She earned a degree in English and creative writing (and theater, but that’s a story for another day) from Emory University in Atlanta. She continued on to law school, but found herself dreamily browsing websites for graduate English programs when she should have been focusing on torts. Eventually deciding that a legal career wasn’t for her, she decided to write and edit for a living.
Allyson has written for multiple blogs and publications, ranging from Disney topics to life insurance and everything in between. She has edited academic papers, novels, and educational content. She is now preparing to publish her first novella, The Goldens, and has several other novels in the works.
Allyson lives outside Atlanta with her family, and homeschools her two boys.
